Why I Founded Eternis

Technology with Memory, Companionship with Heart.

The idea behind Eternis began with a simple childhood wish:

“that the people we love could always be remembered, and that no one would have to face aging or loneliness alone.”

When I was younger, I was afraid of losing the people closest to me. I did not fully understand what death meant, but I knew that when someone was gone, their voice, their face, their habits, and even the way they called my name could slowly fade from the world.

Later, as I began learning more about artificial intelligence and robotics, I realized that while technology may not be able to stop aging or separation, it can help preserve memories, extend companionship, and support people when they need it most.

As I continued exploring robotics, I started asking myself a deeper question:

Who should technology truly serve?

To me, the most meaningful technology should not remain only in research papers, laboratories, or demonstrations. It should enter real homes, real communities, and real lives. It should help people regain independence, reduce fear, and feel less alone.

This is what led me to focus on elderly individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease. They often forget time, places, objects, and eventually even the people closest to them. But they are not people who should be forgotten. They are individuals whose memories are slowly being taken away by disease, and they deserve patience, dignity, safety, and companionship.

With this in mind

I designed a spherical companion robot for elderly care. It was not created to showcase complex technology. It was created to become a quiet and reliable presence by an elderly person’s side. The robot can remind users to take medication, help them locate objects, track their position, and alert family members when assistance may be needed. It cannot cure Alzheimer’s disease, and it cannot replace the love of family. But if it can help one elderly person feel less afraid, prevent one moment of danger, or give one family a little more peace of mind, then it has a reason to exist.

I founded Eternis because I believe the most important purpose of technology is not to make machines more powerful, but to make human beings less alone. Eternis hopes to use artificial intelligence and robotics to bring safer, warmer, and more dignified companionship to elderly individuals.

To me, Eternis is more than a robotics project. It is an effort to preserve memory, extend companionship, and help those who are often overlooked be seen again.
